I think a farm vacation would be a lot of fun! It’s a great way for “city slickers” to be exposed to a whole other way of life. Apparently many people agree, because agritourism has become increasingly popular in recent years. While doing some research on Prince Edward Island, I ran across Springwater Farm. Located in Albion Cross, on the northeastern part of the island, the Matheson family will show you what living on a farm is all about. Since their farm concentrates on growing hay and raising sheep, you’ll experience “making hay” and feeding those wooly creatures. You can also take leisurely walks along their woodland trails, pick berries, or garden. If you want to curl up with a book on the backyard swing, you can do that, too.

Their store, Shepherd’s Nook, contains sheepskin, wool blankets, and lamb meat. None of their purebred Suffolk sheep have been fed any animal by-products, antibiotics, or growth hormones, which is good for you and the environment.

Farm stays include meals and accomodations. They even offer family discounts on their already inexpensive rates.
